Why we exist
News moves fast, and much of it is repeated, rushed or stripped of context. We try to slow it down just enough to get it right. Each article starts with the essentials and then adds the background a reader needs to form their own view.
We do not chase every update. We pick the developments that matter and stay with them, returning to a story when there is something new to say rather than when it is simply trending.
Coverage
These are the subjects our newsroom follows day to day.
Our newsroom
Our reporters specialise in the areas they cover, which lets them follow a story over weeks and months rather than a single news cycle.

How we work
Getting it right
A fast story that turns out to be wrong helps no one. We confirm key details before publishing and make clear what remains unverified.
Sources
Readers should be able to see where information comes from. We cite agencies, institutions and other publications by name and link to original material when it is available online.
Independence
We do not accept payment for coverage. Sponsored material, if it ever appears, is clearly labelled and kept separate from our journalism.
When we get it wrong
If a published article contains an error, we fix it openly rather than quietly. Material corrections are acknowledged in the article itself.
